Due to holiday busyness, I missed this past weekend preview, so think of this as a review instead. Did you catch any of the new releases this past weekend, or did you go see Catching Fire like everyone else?
Based on the award winning novel, The Book Thief is the story of a young German girl’s struggle to understand everything she is going through during WWII.
Ultimately too happy for its own good, stellar performances from the solid cast – including the young newcomers – still make this worth a watch.

The true story of a woman’s fifty year search for her son.
I missed seeing this one, but it has all sorts of positive buzz so if indie fare is your speed, check it out.

A modern musical adaptation of the Christmas story with an African American ensemble cast.
I missed this one as well, but you will probably know if this is the type of movie that will appeal to you or not.

Inspired by The Snow Queen and in the same vein as Tangled.
It’s actually a lot better than you might think – it’s quite good in fact, but only very loosely based on the original fairy tale.

This is Jason Statham with James Franco and Meth.
It’s not as fun as you would hope.
