We’ve got a couple new movies for you this weekend – one of which I liked, but you might not, and another that I thought was one of the worst of the year.
Luc Besson gives us this dark comedy starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro as the heads of a mafia family gone into witness protection after snitching on the mob. To stay alive they need to lay low, but laying low is against their nature, causing trouble in the small French town they are relocated to.
This is not a movie for everyone as the humor is very black at times, as well as a little on the absurd side. I think it’s worth a watch though and found it quite funny. De Niro gives a great performance and it’s different enough to stand out.

In bringing his son (Ty Simpkins) back from beyond the astral plane, a father (Patrick Wilson) brings more than he bargained for back as well. Haunted by an evil being and threatened by a man who may longer be himself, the rest of the Lambert family struggles to survive and defeat the malevolent forces at play.
If that description sounds confusing, just try watching the film. It’s a mess. The follow up to James Wan‘s successful supernatural thriller tries and fails at everything. It’s not scary, funny, thrilling, or entertaining. It’s one of the worst I’ve seen this year.
